I began researching why God chose flawed people to serve Him.
I wanted to know.
I read an article entitled, “ GOD USES FLAWED PEOPLE TO SHARE HOPE TO A FLAWED WORLD.” Written by Jarrid Wilson, June 12, 2014, with the Thought Catalog.
I found it while doing a search of flawed people used by God in the bible. I am going to share some of his comments.
THIS OLD PICTURE GIVES ME GREAT COMFORT
MY LITTLE HOUSE HAS MANY SQUEAKS & CRACKS. IT WAS BUILT THREE YEARS BEFORE I WAS BORN. I LOVE OLD HOUSES. I LOVE OLD CRACKS ON OUR STREET. I ESPECIALLY LOVE OLD OAK TREES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. I BELIEVE THAT COULD BE CALLED “VINTAGE“ MUCH LIKE ITS OCCUPANT. THERE IS PEACE IN MY HEART WHEN I SEE THIS OLD PICTURE. MY GRANNY HAD ONE JUST LIKE IT IN HER HOUSE.
WHEN I WALK OUT THE DOOR,
I FEEL “EQUIPPED” FOR
WHATEVER COMES MY WAY!
I SIMPLY PRAY!
“If you ever feel like you aren’t worthy enough, remember Jesus used many people who were flawed to share hope to a flawed world.”.........
He continues, ”Jesus did not call the equipped, he equipped the called.”
There it was for me to read. God will
equip me if I trust and obey Him!
FALL FLOWERS FROM THE YARD, FALL IS IN THE AIR!
SOON OUR GARDENS WILL BE GOING TO SLEEP TIL SPRING
ARE YOU PLANNING A FALL GARDEN? ANY GARDENING TIP?
Remember, He that conquered the grave lives within you.”
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him,
who have been called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28.
Wow! What powerful Words!
In his article, Mr. Wilson shares he too didn’t quite understand why Jesus chose the individuals he used. However, he points out Christ did not use the rich, or successful people to further His ministry. He chose the poor, broken, and faithful people.
I also wondered what the Pharisees were thinking when He did this. Obviously, they knew more than Christ did! Of course not! I would expect they were poking insults at Him and complaining about what tasteless choices of followers He used to spread His gospel.
I have often wondered how God selected those who would further His message.
Just when I allow a little bit of arrogance to creep into my mind, just when I think I am a superior human being, I end up eating humble pie! He has His own way of getting our attention, trust me!
How about when my six-year old sweet Caroline checks ME and my attitude. “Lee, can we talk about Jesus again?” Yep, that’s when I bring my head down from outer space, for yet another piece of humble pie! He knows when to get my attention. Trust me, he did. I’m over it.
Lord, when we are in Heaven, I pray Jesus doesn’t ask me to get a peach tree switch, like mama did. My mama could give Him a piece of advice about me on that subject. “Go get me a peach tree switch, Hazel Lee, and bring it to me.” Hearing that, I ran like a little banty chicken to my granny’s, remembering her yelling, “That’s ok, Hazel Lee, you’ll be home by supper time.”
When back home, mama seemed to have forgotten my switching, or did she? I will have to ask her someday.
